We are excited to introduce a new feature that allows clients to enable SMS marketing opt-in for their attendees. This feature enhances your marketing efforts by allowing you to collect phone numbers for SMS marketing and export them to a third-party SMS platform.

How to Enable SMS Marketing Opt-In

Follow these steps to enable SMS marketing opt-in for your event:

  1. Log in to Your Dashboard: Access your account and view your dashboard.
  2. Configure Defaults: Navigate to Configure Defaults in your dashboard.
  3. Allow SMS Opt-in: Under Configure Defaults, enable the Allow SMS Opt-in option. This allows purchasers to opt-in to SMS marketing for your organization while buying tickets. The opt-in flag is included in the transaction export report.
  4. Enable SMS Ticket Delivery: Ensure that SMS ticket delivery is enabled by following these steps:
    • Go to My Events and select Manage Events.
    • Choose the event you want to edit.
    • Navigate to the Tickets tab under Edit Event.
    • Go to General Ticket Settings.
    • Under Ticket Sales Options, enable SMS Text Message w/Barcode.

Exporting Phone Numbers for SMS Marketing

Once SMS opt-in is enabled, you can export the collected phone numbers to a third-party SMS platform for marketing purposes. Follow these steps:

  1. Generate Transaction Report: Create a transaction report that includes the phone numbers of attendees who opted in for SMS marketing.
  2. Export Data: Export the report to a CSV file.
  3. Import to Third-Party Platform: Import the CSV file into your preferred third-party SMS marketing platform.

Important Note

While our system allows you to collect phone numbers and opt-ins for SMS marketing, we only send transactional SMS messages (such as SMS QR Code tickets) through the Big Tickets event ticketing software. All marketing SMS messages must be sent through a third-party SMS platform.

Best Practices for SMS Marketing

  • Obtain Consent: Always ensure that you have obtained explicit consent from attendees before sending SMS messages. This is not only a best practice but also a legal requirement.
  • Keep Messages Short and Relevant: SMS messages have a character limit, so keep your messages concise and to the point. Make sure the content is relevant and valuable to your audience.
  • Personalize Messages: Whenever possible, personalize your SMS messages to make them more engaging. Use the attendee's name and reference specific details about the event they are attending.
  • Include Clear Call to Actions: Make it easy for recipients to take action by including clear and direct call-to-action phrases, such as "Get Tickets Now" or "Don't Miss Out".
